PCI´s 10th pre-EPCA seminar reviewed market developments along the polyester chain, from mixed xylenes, through PX, PTA and MEG to PET and polyester fibre. A review of the outlook for feedstock pricing was presented by Bill Urquhart of Jacobs Consultancy and focussed on the likely developments in crude oil pricing ahead of a potential showdown with Iraq. One particular concern discussed at the event was the possibility of sharp increase in MEG pricing for 2003.
