Against a background of rapidly rising raw material prices and the inevitability of a major war in Iraq, PCI Xylenes & Polyesters Ltd held their 5th review of the polyester chain for clients from the Americas. With a specific focus of reviewing global developments in the polyester industry and analysing and presenting their impact on markets in North and South America, this conference has attracted ever-increasing numbers of industry participants from refiners to retailers. Issues discussed ranged from near-term supply-demand balances for key raw materials through to the impact of China´s dramatic and aggressive import penetration into the United States, which has had knock-on effects through the region and on competing import nations. The 2004 conference will build on the success of 2003 and will retain the popular 1-day format, allowing delegates a greater degree of travel flexibility when attending the event.
